DECOMP Nitro is a scientifically developed microbial culture designed for the biological Nitrification of ammoniacal nitrogen in condensates and industrial effluents.
Nitrification is a biological oxidation process that converts ammonium salts (NH₄⁺) into nitrites (NO₂⁻), and subsequently into nitrates (NO₃⁻). It is the most commonly used method for the biological removal of ammoniacal nitrogen from wastewater streams.
In this process:
Nitrifying bacteria oxidize ammonia to nitrite.
Another group of bacteria further oxidizes nitrite to nitrate.
The final stage of nitrogen removal (dentrification) involves reducing nitrate to nitrogen gas (N₂), which is released into the atmosphere.
